We see rocks, water, soil and materials every day. SNI explores how we can turn observations into questions, questions into investigations, and evidence into shared knowledge.

A rock is not just a rock. Water is not just water. Everything has a story.
SNI is building a way to investigate those stories by connecting people, scientific knowledge, measurements, laboratories, data and AI.
Natural processes are always moving beneath what we see. These are starting points for questions—not finished answers.

Looking at stone led to questions about where it came from, how it formed, what it contains, why one stone differs from another, and what happens after we use it.
Stone led to minerals. Minerals led to water and soil. Then came geology, materials, human use, transformation, waste and possible recovery.
The questions crossed many fields. They needed different knowledge, laboratories, measurements, data and ways of thinking.
AI made it possible to explore connections across fields. It also made one boundary clear: information is not the same as evidence.
A developing way of bringing questions, people, scientific knowledge, laboratories, data, technology and AI together to investigate what we do not yet understand.

The first investigation is documented as it develops—not as a finished success story.
What happened? What caught our attention?
What are we trying to understand?
What does existing evidence tell us?
Where are the gaps or uncertainties?
What research, sampling or measurement took place?
What does the evidence currently support?
The Cloud Lab is a digital pathway that connects a question to research, laboratory measurements, data, AI-assisted analysis, expert review and verified knowledge.
AI can suggest. Evidence must verify. The Cloud Lab does not replace physical laboratories. Laboratory measurements generate the evidence on which findings can be verified.
